Hanfic Genre Challenge: Aftertaste

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

The Hanfic Genre Challenge has begun! How exciting is that? Make sure you go and check out all of the stories. It looks like there’s going to be a little something for everyone! I’ve posted the Prologue and Chapter One of Aftertaste, my contribution to the challenge. It’s Zac centric, and I’m really excited about it, and things are going pretty well on the writing front so far. Just make sure you pay attention to the dates when you read because those will jump around a bit at least in the first few chapters. I’ve also posted Chapter Six of Absolution. I owe Becca a huge THANK YOU for editing everything for me. You rock, Beccan!

You also might have noticed there are a couple of new themes. I’m pretty proud of them. So maybe let me know if you like them? I’ll try to see about making a new Solace theme too. Speaking of which, I have been working on Solace again. Just a little bit here and there. Right now the focus is on Aftertaste since I have to post six chapters by February 23nd, so you’ll have that to look forward to at least. I hope.

Also, in my last update I completely forgot to mention the 12 Days of Christmas. I’m uber late, but I did write a short little piece for it from the Trash universe. My story was Day 1 if you’re curious, and if you didn’t get around to reading the others, check those out too. Lots of great stories!

Also, I’ve reactivated my nearly dead Twitter account. You can find the link on the sidebar in case you might be interested in following my sad existence. If you have an account, drop me a comment in the guestbook with the link. I might want to stalk follow you. smile

And last, but certainly not least, thank you very much to Renee C. and Molly for signing the guestbook! smile

First Update of 2009

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Guess who’s still alive? Yep, that’s right. I’m so, so sorry for the major lack of updates around here. I really don’t have any real legit excuse other than laziness and a total lack of motivation. But if I wanted to place blame, I would point in the direction of Twilight fan fiction. That stuff is like crack, and I’m having a hard time kicking the habit.

Anyway, I’ve posted Chapters Four and Five of Absolution. And I’m hoping that there are still people out there interested in reading it. Things are starting to pick up in the story now, so hopefully it will be worth the wait. If not, I’m sorry.

I feel like I have about a zillion things I need to update on as well. Some kind soul nominated me at the Hanfic Christmas Awards, and some more kind souls voted for me, earning me a win and a couple runner-up awards, so thank you so much for that. I really wasn’t expecting it at all considering my serious lack of updates last year. I’m hoping to do better in that area this year.

Also, Renee C. and Renee P. are hosting the Hanfic Genre Challenge, and it looks like it’s going to be really cool. Go check out all of the different genres to choose from, and if you’re a writer, there’s still time to sign up. I’ve decided to participate, and I’ll be writing a Mystery/Detective story. I’m really excited about it. It’s called Aftertaste. I suppose Absolution sparked my desire to try out some different genres, and I also have some plans to experiment with the format of the story too, so you can expect to see that story around the first week of February.

For those of you still holding out for an update on Solace, I swear that you will be seeing more of those this year. I got into a bit of a funk with writing – Hanfic or otherwise – last year, and things just didn’t seem to want to come, but I’ve been easing myself back into writing this year, and I feel like I’ll be able to get back into the swing of things. And I have so many little pieces of Solace in my head that once I really commit myself to it, I don’t think it will be a problem to get it out. And I just might be stepping into the world of writing Twilight fan fiction this year too. I’ve dabbled in it, but Solace will definitely take priority before I venture out into that realm. I also have a few other Hanfic ideas brewing.

I also I want to give many, many thanks to everyone that still visits the site and has stuck with me even though I completely failed at being consistent last year. And thank you to Becca, Renee (x2), Mel, Foxtrot and Hayley for taking the time to sign the guestbook. Assuming I stick with my plan to be more dependable and responsible, I should have a new chapter of Absolution next week unless I decided to wait to update it and Aftertaste at the same time, but I hope this is the beginning of regular updates! Assuming I still have readers! smile

Editor Plugs

These awesome people have taken on the role as editors for my stories. Some edit them all, and some edit just one or two, but I appreciate each and every one of them for their help, and to show my appreciation, they're getting a permanent plug. So thank you, Amy, Becca, Katrina, Kayla, Lauren, Mel, Nikki, and Taye.
