Lots of Little Updates

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Oh my gosh! I am alive! It’s a been a while. I’ve been rather busy over the last few weeks. I started a new job, and I’m still adjusting to that. I’ve been having a bit of a hard time with mustering up enough self-discipline to write much. I have been working on Solace. I just don’t have anything finished yet. I did redo strangeandbeautiful.org a few weeks ago, so check that out. The site is best viewed in Firefox. For some reason IE just didn’t want to cooperate with the layout. You can see some of the chapter stats posted over there.

Honestly, though, I can’t say how soon the next update for Solace will be. I’ve decided to do NaNoWriMo this year. I really only put my foot down and decided a little over a week ago, but now I’m really excited about it and I’ve been doing a lot of planning. The story is called Absolution. It’s a dramatic thriller with a touch of mystery and a little horror, so as far as the genre goes, it’s really something different, but the biggest difference about this story has to be that I’m not doing a Hanfic this year. I’m a little nervous about it because I feel a bit rusty on the original fiction front, but I think it’s time. I will still post the story online if anyone is interested in reading it, so I’d really appreciate it if you’d drop me a comment in the guestbook and let me know!

Also, to Jen, I read your comment in the guestbook about reading Beautiful Disaster. I’m still in the process of editing and recoding the chapters, and I already know I won’t get that finished until after November, so in the meantime, I’ve posted all of the chapters in pdf format in case anyone else feels like reading it. You can find the link to the pdf here.

I’ve also got a new hostee! Heather from YouForAlways.net has moved all of her fiction over so that it wouldn’t be lost when her domain expires, so update your bookmarks! smile

And, last but not least, thank you to Amber, Gabby, Gotyou, Katie, Diana, Mare, Lauren, Rosie, Jessica, Jenna, Michelle G, and Jen for signing the guestbook. I’ve been so bad about updating lately, but I really appreciate everyone who’s hanging in there to read more of Solace as well as everyone else who has continued to sign the guestbook. Please remember to leave me about your comments about posting Absolution, and, hopefully, you’ll be hearing more from me soon!

Brace Yourself

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

As Howie Day sang, brace yourself! I come bearing a real update. *listens to the collective gasps* I know, it’s about time, right? But I am so happy to finally say that Chapter Four of Solace has been posted. In my last update I said I had about 8 pages finished. It took me a few days, but once I got into it and started writing I managed to write another 12 pages and finish off the chapter pretty quickly. I think I just needed to get back into the right frame of mind for writing Silly, and now that I’m there, hopefully, the next few chapters will come easily. I’m really excited about them, actually. I think I have the next several chapters pretty well figured out, so I shouldn’t find myself stuck like I was with this one.

I also added a new theme - Forever Young. If it doesn’t come up as the default, just click on the link in the sidebar to view it! I also updated the awards section because, surprisingly, I picked up a few awards at The Oscars: Hanson Style. I really wasn’t expecting that, so thank you so much to everyone who voted for me and my stories! I really appreciate it! smile

Also, thank you to Helen for taking the time to sign the guestbook. Thank you for your forgiveness in my lack of updates, and it makes me happy to find another Twilight lover. I’m extremely excited about the movie, and I’ve been super fangirlish after reading the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun, despite my disappointment about it currently being on hold. sad

And, of course, thank you to Becca and Mel for taking the time to beta this chapter for me. I hope, assuming anyone still comes here and is still reading it, that you enjoy the new chapter of Solace. I’d really appreciate some feedback on the chapter. It really helps a lot to hear what people are thinking as far as motivation to write goes. I’m hoping to start Chapter Five later today - after I’ve got some sleep. Enjoy!

I’m Sorry!

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

I totally fail, and I admit it right now. I’m so sorry it’s been so long since I’ve made any sort of update. It’s been almost two months since my last update, which is just ridiculous. Sadly, I still don’t have an update for Solace. Honestly, I have been working on it. Albeit, not consistently. I’m about half finished with Chapter Four. I have 8 pages and 3,658 words to prove it! I really don’t have any decent excuses for why I haven’t finished it yet other than I’ve been lazy and sucked into the Twilight fandom, but I’m going to get my ass into gear and try to finish the chapter asap.

I meant to post about a lot of things ages ago, but I redid the section for Distorted Blessings. I edited some of the chapters, the characters page and added skins to the section, so check those out!

Also, Nat is running her own Hanfic awards. I meant to update and let everyone know so they could nominate, but I missed that, but voting is in session right now, so check out the nominees at Oscars: Hanson Style and vote! There are still a few days left!

And I just want to say thank you to Becca, Foxtrot (x3), Katie, Diana, Gotyou, Helen, Marissa, Jessica, Lauren, Abbey, Katey, Allison, and Michele for signing the guestbook. It’s really good to know that people are still visiting the site even though I’ve been so slack about updating. I’m hoping to have an update for Solace before the end of the month, and maybe once I get back in the zone I can start to make at least semi-regular updates again. I miss writing, and I really terrible about leaving everyone hanging! Forgive me, please?
