About

The site began as Wish That They Were Here back in 2001/2002. I actually had the site before that, but I didn’t really start to get serious about web design until around June of 2002, which was when I actually started publishing my fiction on the web.

The site started out at geocities.com, and then I was offered at place at daydreams.cc for a few months, and that’s when I first learned about ftp and such. When hosting closed at daydreams.cc, I got hosted over at hansonsource.com. I moved there in December of 2002 and was there until May of 2003. Then they decided to quit hosting, so I moved back to geocities.

I changed the name of the site from Wish That They Were Here to Let Me Down in February of 2003. Some people have asked me about the name and it’s supposed to be sarcastic (like me). I, obviously, don’t want people to let me down. But I just liked the way it sounded, so I went with it.

I was hosted at Typical-Mind.net by my friend Kerrie from September 24 - December of 2003. Then when I got my own domain (failed-to-say.net) and moved the site over to it.

After a year at failed-to-say.net, I decided to merge all of the fiction on Let Me Down with my poetry and other fiction, so I moved all of it to my second domain, aloneinthepretense.org. The decision to merge things took me close to three months to decide on because I was so attached to the name and the site, but I thought it was about time for change.
