The wedding went perfectly, which was a huge relief for me. After the ceremony, Taylor and I had to pose for several photos, and Taylor made an official statement to the press. I knew that after the news of our wedding spread, my life would never be the same. Girls would probably hate me because I was married to their precious Taylor, but I tried not to think about it.
After we were finished at the church, we headed to the reception. Taylor and I got there later than everyone else because of the pictures and press, so when we walked into the reception hall, we were both met by many people, and we got separated in the midst of it all.
“Eden, you look so beautiful,” Kylie, one of my best friends from high school, smiled as she hugged me.
“Thanks,” I smiled. “I’m so glad you could come, Ky. I wish I could have called you myself to tell you about it, but I’ve been so busy lately.”
“Oh, it’s okay,” Kylie shrugged. “Nothing could have stopped me from being at my best friend’s wedding!”
“It’s just so great to see you,” I said.
“Well, I can’t wait for you to introduce me to your gorgeous husband,” Kylie commented. “You two look so cute together.”
“Thank you,” I grinned as I looked around the room. “Well, let’s go find him so I can introduce you to him.”
I introduced Kylie to Taylor, and I met many of Taylor’s friends and family, and spoke with several more of my friends.
“Hey, Ede, do you think you could toss the bouquet my way?” Deana asked with a grin.
“I think you’re going to have to fight Claire for it,” I replied as Taylor walked up beside me.
“If you ladies don’t mind, I’d like to steal my wife for a little bit,” Taylor grinned as he took my hand.
“I’ll talk to you later,” I smiled as I followed Taylor out onto the dance floor.
“So, how are you holding up?” Taylor asked as he began to slow dance.
“I’m fine,” I replied. “I’m a little tired, but everything’s going great. How about you?”
“I feel great,” Taylor smiled.
“So, when are we going to make the big announcement?” I asked.
“Um, after Isaac makes his toast?” Taylor suggested.
“Sounds good,” I nodded.
A while later Isaac made his toast. Truthfully, I didn’t really hear a word of his speech because I was too busy thinking about the announcement Taylor was about to make. Deep down in my heart, I believed if I could just get through this day, the next year would be okay.
After Isaac finished his speech, Taylor stood up. “Hello, everyone!” he smiled. “I just wanted to thank all of you for coming here and making mine and Eden’s wedding so terrific. We were already married, which you all know, but having a wedding with all of our friends and family around made it even better. We also have something that we’d like to share with all of you.” He paused for a moment and looked down at me and smiled. “Eden and I have just found out we are going to be parents this time next year.”
Many people clapped, and some of Taylor’s friends whistled. I looked at my mom. She had tears in her eyes. I didn’t know if they were tears of joy or tears or sadness. I silently prayed they were tears of joy. I looked at my dad who was seated beside my mom. He looked at me and smiled a little, which was a bit of a relief. My sisters were all smiling at me. Then I looked at Taylor’s parents. Diana had a huge smile across her face and a few tears in her eyes. Walker, on the other hand, wore a scowl. I decided he did not like me. I looked at Zac, and he smiled softly.
Later, I went to mingle with my friends. I wanted to spend as much time talking to them as I could before they had to leave.
“Eden’s going to be a mommy,” Kylie said in a sing-song voice.
“I know. I can’t believe it,” I smiled.
“Are you excited?” Claire asked.
“Yeah,” I nodded. “But I’m nervous at the same time. I mean, so much is happening all at once.”
“Well, I’m sure you’ll be a great mom,” Deana commented.
“Thanks you guys,” I smiled.
After almost everyone was gone, Audrey came up to me.
“Hey, Mrs. Hanson,” she smiled as she hugged me.
“Hey,” I smiled.
“How are you doing?” Audrey asked.
“I’m a little tired,” I sighed. “Today was great, though.”
“I’m glad you had fun. You looked so beautiful today,” Audrey said.
“Thanks,” I said with a genuine smile.
“I wish I could hang around longer, but I need to head home. I’ve got to work tomorrow,” Audrey said with a light smile.
“Okay, I’ll call you when Taylor and I get back from our honeymoon,” I replied.
“Okay, you better. You have to tell me all about Hawaii,” she smiled.
“I will,” I grinned before Audrey headed to the door.
“So, ready to head to Hawaii?” Taylor asked when we were in the limo and on our way to the airport.
“Yeah,” I nodded. “So, what did your dad say about the baby?”
“Nothing really,” Taylor shrugged. “My mom was overjoyed. She wanted to know the due date and everything.”
“What did you tell her?” I asked worriedly.
“I told her that we weren’t sure,” Taylor answered. “I told her you’d find out when we get back from the honeymoon.”
“Oh, okay,” I sighed.
“What did your parents say?” he asked.
“My mom was happy and sad. She kept saying she couldn’t believe her baby is going to have a baby,” I replied. “My dad just said congratulations. I think he’s worried I’m going to drop out of college and never do anything with my life.”
“Well, he doesn’t need to worry,” Taylor said. “I won’t let you drop out. You have to stay in school.”
“Okay, who do you think you are telling me what to do?” I asked with a smile.
“I’m your husband,” Taylor grinned.
“Quit reminding me,” I groaned.
