I winced when I heard the shrill sound of screaming. I looked at Natalie and Lariana who had similar looks of pain on their face. I wondered if it would be too immature for me to cover my ears with my hands.
I was with Isaac, Taylor, Zac, Natalie, Lariana, and the rest of the Hanson family at the special fan concert for Hanson day. Natalie had little Ezra in her arms, and he was crying. I didn't blame the poor baby. Listening to a bunch of girls scream their heads off was enough to make me want to cry too. Natalie tried rocking him and patting his back, but nothing seemed to help.
"Why don't we go somewhere else?" I suggested when I saw the look of desperation on Natalie's face. Not being able to calm her child was really bothering her.
"Yeah," Lariana said looking around. "I'm sure there's an empty room around here that's quieter than this."
"Okay," she nodded quickly as we ushered her to another room. Lariana stopped to tell Isaac where we were going, and we were on our way.
We went into the dressing room and sat down. Natalie sighed softly as she rocked Ezra gently finally calming him down. I looked at Natalie and couldn't help but worry. She looked so tired, and I wondered if she had been eating like she should. She looked much too skinny. I knew she missed her family, and Taylor hadn't been around too much to help because they were busy preparing for the summer tour.
"Hey, Nat, want me to take him?" I asked. "And you can go get something to eat."
"You don't mind?" Natalie asked uncertainly.
"Do I mind?" I laughed as I went over and took Ezra from her arms. "You know I love this little chubby baby just like he was my own flesh and blood."
"Yeah, I know," Natalie nodded as she stood up and looked at Lariana. "Wanna get something to eat?"
"Nah," she shrugged. "You go ahead."
"Okay," she nodded before she headed for the door.
"She doesn't look good," Lariana commented as soon as Natalie was gone.
"I know," I nodded with a sigh as I rocked Ezra gently. He was almost asleep. "I think I'm gonna try to talk to Taylor after the show."
"What are you gonna say to him?" she asked.
I shrugged. "I'll tell him to take her out for dinner or something," I said. "I don't know. She just needs to do something fun because she looks so run down."
"Yeah," Lariana agreed as she said down on the chair across from me.
We were both quiet. I really didn't know what else to say to her. I liked Lariana. She seemed really nice, but I didn't know her very well yet.
