Author's Comments & Afterthoughts

One of my all time favorite movies is Rear Window, which was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starred James Stewart and Grace Kelly. It was as I was watching this movie that a kernel of an idea began to take root. I tossed it around for a while and was unsure of how I could translate such an idea into a piece of fan fiction. After stewing over it for a while, the pieces began to fall into place, and as they say, the rest is history.

I had such an incredible time working on this story. It was challenging at times because the story and characters are so isolated. However, at the end of the writing process, I'm very pleased with how the story turned out. While the length of the story spun out beyond what I was expecting, the same basic ideas and plot that I originally had in mind came together even better than I'd hoped.

Thank Yous

When the ideas for this story had solidified, I was immediately excited about working on it. I had written the first two chapters when Bethany began to discuss doing a Hanfic Big Bang. Thanks to the rule, allowing stories that were already started but not posted, I decided to join. Thanks to Bethany and because of a set deadline, I probably finished this story much faster than I would have on my own.

The writing process for this story was pretty fast. Without HanficSprints, it would have been easy for my motivation to wane, so thank you to the girls for their always entertaining conversation and continual support.

I probably owe the biggest thank you to Mel. She read this story once as I was writing it and was very helpful with her insights and constructive criticisms. Her comments and encouragement were invaluable, and she was kind enough to read the story again and help with the editing. This wasn't an easy task, and I can't even begin to imagine how much of her time she dedicated to helping me.

As much fun as it was to write this story, the best part is always to share it and see how people recieve it. Thanks to the Big Bang, I was also lucky enough to see how people interpreted the story and characters in other avenues, so I have to say thank you to Nikki for the beautiful banner she made for the story and to Lana for the fabulous fanmix she made. They are both wonderful, and it's such a treat to have something made specifically for the story that fits it so well.
