AloneInthePretense.org was bought on December 26, 2004 and officially opened as a fiction website in March of 2005. The site, however, has been around in many recarnations since 2001. Back then it was just a small site called Wish That They Were Here that was hosted on geocities. It didn’t official take off, though, until around June of 2002 when I (Brittney) actually started to publish my writing to the web with any sort of consistency.
Under the title of Wish That They Were Here, the site moved around from daydreams.cc, where I first learned about FTP. Once daydreams.cc closed, the site was hosted at hansonsource.com from December of 2002 until May of 2003 when hansonsource.com stopped hosting sites. The site them moved back to geocities.
In February of 2003 the name of the site was changed to Let Me Down. After several months at geocities, the site was then hosted by Kerrie at typical-mind.net from September 2004 until December 2003, which was when I purchased my first domain, failed-to-say.net. Let Me Down remained there for about a year. During that time I purchased aloneinthepretense.org without any specific use for it until I decided to merge all of my writing onto one site.
After that time, I opened up hosting to other sites. Over the years, aloneinthepretense.org has played host to many wonderful writers and websites.
As of March 2012, seven years after aloneinthepretense.org became a fiction site, I decided to stop writing fan fiction and more forward into original stories, which had always been my plan.
In November 2012, I decided not to renew aloneinthepretense.org and moved the site over to wordpress.com to make my collaborative stories available.
On June 20, 2014 I decided to reopen the domain when the name became available. I purchased the name and hosting from A Small Orange.
